Summary of Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2019


Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting on Monday 23 September 2019. We have received positive feedback from those who attended. You can find a summary of the event below.


Our Annual Conference and AGM was opened by Samar Sheikh, Chairperson for Lanarkshire Carers Centre who welcomed carers and professionals to the Avonbridge Hotel. 

Barbara McAuley, Chief Executive Officer for Lanarkhire Carers Centre presented the AGM with the Annual Report for 2018-2019 and a copy of this can be downloaded below.

Brian Fitzgerald, Treasurer for Lanarkshire Carers Centre presented the annual accounts for the organisation. 

The AGM also received an update on the work of our Personal Outcomes approach and the development of our toolkit. A group discussion was held using the prompt cards from the toolkit and gave carers an opportunity to discuss which cards they related to the most.

The AGM also heard from the personal experiences of 4 carers and how Lanarkshire Carers Centre were able to help them in their caring roles. 

 

Lynn shared her story with us in person at the AGM. Lynn spoke about the partnership work between Lanarkshire Carers Centre and Social work to get the right level of support in place for her, to help her cope with the caring role and look after her own health and wellbeing.

 

Anna also shared her story with us at our AGM and talked about the isolation carers face when caring for someone and the help she receives through Lanarkshire Carers Centre.

 

Peter shared his story with us at our AGM and talked about the impact caring had on his life and the difference Lanarkshire Carers Centre makes.

 

Fiona also talked about the impact caring had on her health and well-being and how the support she received through Lanarkshire Carers Centre has helped.

 

Francine O'Donnell, Carer Services Manager updated carers on the Carer Training Programme and the range of training courses that have been available to carers over the last year.

To bring the AGM to a close, Carers had the opportunity to take part in a Flower Therapy taster session.
